The Scientific and Technical Publications Website (PPCT) has begun its development as a joint initiative of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and the Argentine Centre of Scientific and Technological Information (CAICYT). The purpose of this project is to provide services with the necessary technological and operational estructure to facilitate the electronic publishing of Argentine high-quality scientific journals in an “open access” way, free, full text and without legal restrictions.
Heading this way, taking advantage of existent technologies, and developing new ones as well, efforts are being dedicated to improve academic research and scientific-technical publications, offering the option of open access, aiming to grow the number of readers, increasing the journals´ rate of citation and widen the scope of impact of the national scientific publications on an international level, also contributing for the public wellness on a global scale.
The PPCT is focused on editorial teams of argentine scientific publications which, on one hand, may want to manage on-line paper-work submission processes, evaluation, edition and publishing of electronic production, and on the other, want to enhance and expand the scope of its articles to the international scientific field by integrating a quality space.
The new computerized media supports, new technologies of information and communication facilities, open up enormous possibilities which also require new tools to allow the tasks virtualization and networking of the efforts done.
Regarding these matters, the automation of the publishing processes adapted to the policies of each journal editorials allow time optimization, improvement of the communication among stakeholders and provide better responses to a possible increase in contributions from authors looking forward to enhancing the quality of scientific production. This new tool also makes available scientific and technical production advantages of on-line publication energizing both content generation and its receiving.
